Central Westside United Church
Central Westside belongs to the United Church of Canada, formed in 1925 when Methodist, Congregational and most Presbyterian congregations united. The United Church baptizes infants, keeps an open communion table, and has long put a particular emphasis on social justice.
Central Westside United Church is on the north-west corner of 10th Street West and 3rd Avenue West, in the brick church the Westside Methodists built after the town renumbered its streets in 1909. The old West Street had lost its name in the renumbering, and the congregation, until then the West Side Methodist Church, became Westside Methodist and moved to the new and larger building, fronting on 10th Street with a square entrance tower.
The congregation entered the United Church of Canada at the union of 1925. One service is held each Sunday morning at half past ten, and the church office is open in the middle of the week.
