Brethren

Owen Sound Gospel Hall

The assembly gathers to remember Christ's death and resurrection, and says its purpose is to share the good news of the gospel and to show how a person may be certain of a future with God. Open Brethren assemblies take the New Testament as their only rule for church order, break bread every Lord's Day and have no ordained ministry.

Owen Sound Gospel Hall is on 9th Avenue East, on the east side of the city. It is an assembly of the Open Brethren, who meet in halls rather than churches, recognize no clergy, and order their gatherings from the New Testament alone.

Sunday begins with the Remembrance Meeting at ten, an unprogrammed hour in which the Lord’s Supper is shared and any brother may give out a hymn, read or pray as he is led. Sunday school and Bible study follow at half past eleven, and a gospel service is held in the evening at seven, addressed to anyone who is not yet a Christian. A prayer meeting and Bible study are held on Thursday evening.
