Rockcliffe Pentecostal Church
Rockcliffe states its purpose as being 'to RESTORE that which is broken, to deliberately and purposefully help Individuals RELATE to God and with His body and to RELEASE hope-filled people into their God-given purpose', and invites people to 'taste and see that the Lord is GOOD'. Pentecostal churches teach that the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament, including healing and speaking in tongues, are for the church today.
Rockcliffe Pentecostal Church is at the south end of 4th Avenue West, where the road climbs out of the valley towards the highway. It is the largest Pentecostal congregation in the city.
One service is held each Sunday morning at half past ten, in the building and streamed at the same time. The church sets out its purpose in three words, restore, relate and release: to restore what is broken, to help people relate to God and to his body, and to release them into what it calls their God-given purpose.
Pentecostal churches hold that the gifts of the Spirit poured out at Pentecost, among them healing and speaking in tongues, have not ceased, and their worship is ordinarily informal, with contemporary music and extended sung praise.
